The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2017 has been awarded to the English author Kazuo Ishiguro, "who, in novels of great emotional force, has uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world."

The National Book Awards 2017

The finalists for the 2017 National Book Awards in the Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry and Young People's Literature categories have been announced. The winners will be revealed on November 15, 2017 at the 68th National Book Awards Ceremony and Benefit Dinner at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

The 2017 Kirkus Prize

Kirkus Reviews, the nation’s leading pre-publication journal of book reviews, has announced the six finalists for the fourth annual Kirkus Prize in the categories of Fiction, Nonfiction and Young Readers’ Literature. The Kirkus Prize is one of the richest annual literary awards in the world. Winners in the three categories will each receive $50,000, and will be announced at a special ceremony in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

The Man Booker Prize for Fiction 2017

The shortlist for the Man Booker Prize has been announced. The winner will be revealed on October 17, 2017 in London’s Guildhall at a black-tie dinner, one of the highlights of the publishing year. The ceremony will be broadcast by the BBC.

International Thriller Writers Awards 2017

On July 15, 2017, during ThrillerFest XII, the International Thriller Writers (ITW) announced the winners of the 2017 Thriller Awards at the Grand Hyatt in New York City.

Macavity Awards 2017

The nominees for this year's Macavity Awards have been announced. The Macavity Award is named for the “mystery cat” of T.S. Eliot (OLD POSSUM'S BOOK OF PRACTICAL CATS). The winners will be announced at Bouchercon in Toronto on October 12, 2017.

The Macavity Awards are nominated on and voted on by members of Mystery Readers International, subscribers to Mystery Readers Journal, and friends and supporters of MRI.

The Man Booker International Prize 2017

A HORSE WALKS INTO A BAR written by David Grossman and translated by Jessica Cohen has been awarded the 2017 Man Booker International Prize.

Grossman is a bestselling Israeli writer of fiction, nonfiction and children’s literature, whose works have been translated into 36 languages. He has been the recipient of numerous global awards, including the French Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, the Buxtehuder Bulle in Germany, Rome’s Premio per la Pace e l’Azione Umanitaria, the Frankfurt Peace Prize, and Israel’s Emet Prize.

Cohen, who was born in Colchester, England, but raised in Jerusalem, previously translated Grossman’s critically acclaimed TO THE END OF THE LAND, as well as work by other major Israeli writers, including Etgar Keret, Rutu Modan, Dorit Rabinyan, Ronit Matalon, Amir Gutfreund, Tom Segev and Golden Globe-winning director Ari Folman.

The Audie Awards 2017

The Audio Publishers Association (APA) has announced the winners of the 2017 Audie Awards®, the premier awards program in the United States recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment.

Anthony Awards 2017

Bouchercon, the World Mystery Convention, has announced the Anthony Award nominees for 2017. The Anthony Awards are presented at each annual Bouchercon with the winners selected by attendees. The award is named for the late Anthony Boucher (William Anthony Parker White), writer and critic from the New York Times, who helped found the Mystery Writers of America. The winners will be announced at Bouchercon in Toronto on October 15, 2017.

Indies Choice and E.B. White Real-Aloud Awards 2017

The American Booksellers Association (ABA) has announced the winners of the 2017 Indies Choice Book Awards and the E.B. White Read-Aloud Awards, as voted by independent booksellers nationwide.
